Post Traumatic Stress Disorder / Phobias

One of my areas of expertise is working with clients struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or Post Traumatic Stress. Unfortunately, I see many clients struggling with this disorder because  of our proximity to Travis Air Force Base with resultant combat injuries and witnessing friends, fellow servicemen being injured, maimed, or worse.  Unfortunately, PTSD can occur following the ravages of childhood and life in the civilian population, i.e., domestic violence, motor vehicle accidents, street violence, etc. Often, PTSD renders people unable to work, affects their relations with others, makes them physically ill, and sometimes causes episodes of suicidality, and other symptoms. Modes of treatment differ according to the client, the severity, and the therapists experience with the differing treatments, as well as, the clients response. Multiple studies supports this variance in treatment so we work together to find the optimal treatment. Many times health professionals from other disciplines will suggest a specific treatment and they have only passing knowledge of what is available. Consequently, it is imperative you, the client, remain open to additional treatment modalities.
